Scuba in Kenting

We decided to scuba dive in Kenting, and signed up with Long Jing Diving. The school was very professional, calm, organized, clean, everything one would expect. And cheap; for two dives, two people, full equipment, and a personal guide, we paid 80 Euros total. This was going to be Torsten's first dive. Under the supervision of the instructor, I quickly explained balancing the pressure in the ears, cleaning the mask, and taking out the regulator under water. The instructor took him on a leash, and off we went. Being a sports instructor, Torsten did extremely well. Very easy. We dove off the beach, near a jetty. The underwater landscape was amazing: volcanic riffs, large corrals, absolutely brilliant. Immediately after getting into the water, we saw a black and white sea snake. There were puffer fish the size of a basketball, electric clams, nudy branches, Christmas tree worms, etc etc. Great diving , great day, love to come back.

National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium

Next to Kenting, we visited the National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium. The place is huge, very impressive, stretching over several buildings. Nice, great displays, very good. Among all the aquariums I have seen, this one ranks very high.

Kenting

Torsten came to HK, and we took a 5 day trip to Kaohsiung and Kenting, Taiwan. Cheap hotel, great beaches, 125cc scooter, amazing landscape. On the downside, the food was targeted at Taiwanese tourists, a bland mix of Thai, Italian and Mexican!
